This July, Broadway becomes home to a photography exhibition unlike any other — a celebration of local mob captured through the lens of First Nations photographer Rob Hookey, a proud Waanyi and Ngadjon man now based on Gadigal Land.
Celebrating Local Mob
At the heart of the exhibition are the people who shape our neighbourhood — Elders, young leaders, families, aunties, uncles, kids. Every image tells a story. Every story is part of something bigger.
Shot with warmth and intention, the exhibition explores what it means to belong, to pass on knowledge, and to hold culture across generations. From grandparents to grandchildren, from Elders to emerging voices, each portrait is a small window into a life lived on Country — right here on Gadigal land.
A Partnership with Community
The exhibition was developed in partnership with three incredible local organisations who work every day with First Nations families across Glebe:
- Glebe NAIDOC Committee — the grassroots collective bringing NAIDOC Week to life in Glebe each year
- The Glebe Treehouse — a much-loved community space supporting First Nations children, families and Elders
- Glebe Youth Services — championing young people across Glebe with programs, mentoring and creative pathways

About the Photographer
Rob Hookey is a proud Waanyi and Ngadjon man from Bindal and Wulgurukaba Country in Townsville, now based on Gadigal Land in Sydney. Recognised as one of the first Indigenous fashion photographers in Australia, Rob is known for his rich, considered and deeply human style — with his editorial work featured across leading fashion houses and publications including Camilla, Liandra Swim, David Jones, The Iconic and GQ Australia. For this exhibition, Rob turns his lens to community, capturing the people and stories of Glebe with the same care, colour and quiet beauty that define his practice.
