Your Base for VIVID Sydney

Your base for VIVID Sydney 🎆
Every year, Vivid Sydney transforms the harbour city into one of the world's most extraordinary spectacles of light, music and ideas. And every year, getting there — and parking — becomes one of Sydney's great annual frustrations. Expensive CBD car parks. Circling the same block twice. Paying a premium just to be somewhere crowded.
Broadway Shopping Centre changes that equation entirely. Sitting at the southern edge of the CBD on Bay Street in Ultimo, we put you in prime position for Vivid Sydney without any of the usual drama. Darling Harbour is a short, flat walk away. Circular Quay and The Rocks are a quick bus ride along George Street. And this year, we're making parking the easiest part of your whole night out.
Whether you're planning a date night, a family outing, or a group dinner before heading out to catch the lights, Broadway is your natural starting point. Grab a meal, catch a film, and step straight out into the Vivid Sydney footprint — without fighting for a park or watching the meter.
🚗 Free Parking at Broadway During VIVID Sydney
We're keeping it simple this Vivid. Two offers, both genuinely free, both designed around the way people actually spend a night at the festival.
1. Enter after 6pm, park for free. Any night between 22 May and 13 June, drive into Broadway after 6pm and your parking costs nothing. No minimum spend, no restaurant validation, no fine print beyond the entry time. Just park up and enjoy your night.
The evening offer is built around the natural rhythm of Vivid — most people are heading out after dinner, catching the installations as they come alive after dark. Rolling into Broadway after 6pm means you're arriving at exactly the right moment anyway, and parking is sorted before you've even thought about it.
2. Buy a movie ticket, get 4 hours free. Planning to catch a session at the cinema? Show your ticket at the parking kiosk and receive 4 hours of complimentary parking — valid any time of day, on any day throughout the Vivid Sydney period. Come for the film, stay for the festival.
The cinema deal opens Broadway's free parking to daytime visits too. Bring the kids for an afternoon session, have lunch, and wander down to Darling Harbour as the sun goes down — all without paying a cent for parking. Or catch a late session, stroll the Light Walk on the way home, and let Broadway handle the logistics.
🚶 Getting from Broadway Sydney to the City
Broadway Shopping Centre sits at the junction of Broadway, Parramatta Road and Harris Street — which means getting from our car park out into the Vivid festival footprint is straightforward, whichever direction the night takes you.
On foot, Darling Harbour is your closest port of call. The walk takes around 8 minutes along Ultimo Road — flat, well-lit, and genuinely pleasant on a winter's evening. For Circular Quay and The Rocks, it's a 15-minute walk through the CBD, or a quicker bus ride if you'd rather save your legs for the Light Walk itself.
By bus, Broadway is exceptionally well-served. Regular services along George Street connect directly to Circular Quay, putting you at the heart of Vivid in around 15–20 minutes from our front door. Services also run through to Newtown, Glebe and the inner west, so Broadway makes a genuinely central base wherever the evening leads.
By light rail, Central Station is a 5-minute walk away, connecting you to the CBD and South East Light Rail and from there to the broader Vivid footprint in minutes. And if you're heading to Carriageworks in Eveleigh or beyond, the train network from Central makes it all straightforward.
The logic is simple: park once, at Broadway, for free — and let the city take care of the rest. You won't need the car again until you're ready to come home, and wherever Vivid takes you across its three-week run, getting back is never more than a bus stop away.
